The Larson Cocktail

Sometime inspiration comes out of nowhere.


A couple of weeks ago, I was in the Cellar Lounge on a very slow afternoon.  I was flipping through a new book on rum when a couple came in for a glass of wine.  After a little small talk, I went behind the bar, and poured a drink that had popped into my head while I talked with this couple. 


There are two things that rarely happen for me when creating a new drink.  First is nailing the flavors and proportions on the initial try, which I got on pour one.  The second is naming a drink.


Brett and Amy Larson, this one is for you!!!!

2oz Barbados amber rum

1 oz Amaro Montenegro

¾ oz Benedictine

Orange peel


Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice.  Stir then strain into a cocktail glass.  Cut the peel over the drink, or better yet flame the oils before dropping it in.
