This is a collection of salts, spices, syrups, and mixtures for you to use in your own recipes. 

Autumn Tincture: In a small 5-6 oz empty and sanatized spice jar, place 3 cinnamon sticks,  1Tbl. ground clove, 1Tbl groung Nutmeg, 1 tsp cardimum, 4 drops pure vanilla.  Cover the mixtur with 100 proof vodka, and set aside for 3 weeks, shaking mixture at least once a day.  After maceration, strain liquid through a coffee filter into a small spray bottle (available at cooking shops, or beauty shops).

Grenadine is a wonderful additon to many favorite drinks,  but it is hard to find ture grenadine.  So let’s make our own…

2 cups pure pomegranate juice

1/4 cup sugar

1/8 oz fresh lemon juice

PLace all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.  Once the sugar is dissolved, reduce liquid by half over low heat.  Remove pan from heat, and cool to room temp, then transfer your grenadine to a squeeze bottle.  Should be good for about 2 weeks.


Lemon Sugar Rim

1 part Sugar

1 part crushed lemon drop candy


Bloody Mary Salt

1/2 cup kosher salt

1 t ground black pepper

1/2 t red chile powder (or cayenne)

1 t celery seed

1/2  t dill weed

1 t garlic powder

1/2 t onion powder


Peach Tea Syrup

2 bags peach tea

8 oz water

1/2 pound sugar

brew tea in hot (nt boiling water) add sugar and heat in a saucepan until sugar in completely dissolved.  Do not reduce.  Remove from heat, and cool.


Spicy Salt

2 parts Kosher Salt

1 part Red chile powder (or cayenne)

1 part Paprika


Maple Syrup

1/2 cup good maple syrup

1/2 cup water.

Combine in a saucepan and heat over medium heat .  Do not boil!  This will boil over!!!!!!

Honey Syrup

1/2 cup raw honey (check your local farmer’s market or gourmet shop)

1/2 cup water

Combine in a saucepan and heat over medium heat.  Reduce for 5 minutes.  Chill


Orange Syrup

4 oz Orange juice

4 oz Honey

Combine in a saucepan and heat over medium heat still throughly combined.  DO NOT BOIL!  Remove from heat and cool.


Chile Syrup

Add 2 New Mexico green or 2 aneheim chiles (roasted and peeled) to a simple syrup during the simmering process.
